The Store

When authors and artists are working on books for us, some come and stay in the old hay store attached to the dairy at Little Toller. We are now opening it up to a wider Little Toller family, offering discounts to subscribers and subsidised rates for artists and writers who need a peaceful, inspiring place to work. Overlooking our walled wildflower garden, our veg patch and newly-planted orchard, with the water meadows, chalk stream and downland in the distance, it is a lovely place to retreat, walk, work, become absorbed in the landscape and stories of this tiny Dorset hamlet.

The Store at Little Toller costs £100 per night for short breaks (2-3 nights) and £500 per week. We offer a 10% discount for our subscribers. We also offer subsidised rates for artists and writers.

Every year Little Toller invite artists working in a variety of disciplines to stay in The Store. They come here to research a new project or spend time in the beautiful, peaceful surroundings of the Toller valley to concentrate on their work. During their stay, artists run one or two workshops in the local community. We also invite the artists to take part in a biannual group show at the Print Room, Little Toller’s exhibition space.

If you’re a practising artists whose work shares Little Toller’s sensibility or interest in place and landscape, please do get in touch about taking part in the residency, telling us about yourself, your work and what sort of project you have in mind while staying with us in Dorset.
