To draw in the footsteps of ghosts by Christine Mackey
To draw in the footsteps of ghosts was a project by the artist Christine Mackey (commissioned by the arts and environmental charity Common Ground) to look at the relationship that communities have with newly-planted woodlands. This lovely film documents Christine’s working process during the project.
The work of Christine Mackey explores the way in which plants are regarded and researched – socially and culturally; namely human-plant geographies, critical plant studies, cultural botany, and environmental change. Educated at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, the Dartington College of Arts, Devon, and the University of Ulster, Belfast, Mackey was awarded a Fulbright Irish Scholar Award pursuing independent research.
