AGNES MILLER PARKER (1895-1980) was born in North Ayrshire and trained at Glasgow School of Art, where she later taught and met her husband the artist William McCance. Well-known for the distinctive woodcuts she produced for the Gregynog Press in Wales, her illustrations for Aesop’s Fables, several Thomas Hardy novels, Shakespeare, T.E. Lawrence and H.E. Bates are particularly celebrated.
