JOHN LISTER-KAYE is one of Scotland’s best-known naturalists and conservationists. He founded the Aigas Field Centre in 1977, and has served as Chairman of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in Scotland and President of the Scottish Wildlife Trust. In 1986 he won the World Wilderness Foundation’s gold award for environmental education. His eight books include The White Island (1972) about the time he spent with Gavin Maxwell.
