ROBERT MACFARLANE is author of The Wild Places (2007) and Mountains of the Mind (2003), which won the Guardian First Book Award and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award. He is a Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. His book, The Old Ways (2012), is inspired by Edward Thomasʼs walks through the ʻSouth Countryʼ. In 2015 he published Landmarks, a collection of essays and an extended glossary of nature and landscape names.
